Degrees
Entered Apprentice
This is the first, foundational step into the world of Freemasonry, where a candidate is introduced to its fundamental teachings, principles, and the unique language of its symbolism. The ceremony focuses on themes of self-reflection, intellectual humility, the importance of controlling one’s passions, and the beginning of moral development, laying the groundwork for further enlightenment.
Fellow Craft
Building upon the lessons of the first degree, the Fellow Craft degree represents the pursuit of knowledge, the cultivation of reason, and intellectual growth, historically symbolising the wages of a skilled craftsman. It encourages a deeper understanding of Masonic principles, particularly the liberal arts and sciences, and their practical application in daily life, urging the Mason to become a more informed and useful member of society.
Master Mason
This is the final and highest degree conferred in the Craft Lodge, signifying full membership and a deeper commitment to living by Masonic values. It emphasises themes of integrity, fidelity, the contemplation of mortality, and the importance of one’s legacy. It instils a sense of leadership, service to the Craft, and the responsibility to guide and mentor others on their Masonic path.
Each degree is a significant milestone, imparting timeless lessons that remain relevant and continue to unfold in meaning throughout a Mason’s life and ongoing participation.
